  • Installation on Pier
    by /u/vlsidude on April 21, 2024 at 1:37 am

I plan to install Starlink at the end of my pier where there is a clear view of the sky. This is about 300 feet from my house. I can't mount it anywhere on my house and have it work. The sky is too obstructed. My plan is to put the rectangular antenna on a pole mount at the end of the pier. The Starlink 15m cable will connect the antenna to the Starlink router mounted about mid-pier (where power is available). Then I plan to use a 250' Cat6 Ethernet cable to connect the Starlink router to my existing WiFi router. Will this work? submitted by /u/vlsidude [link] [comments]

  • Starlink Setup - Does this sound right?
    by /u/DraftManager on April 21, 2024 at 12:06 am

I plan to install my starlink (version 3 I hope) on the roof of my house (Hopefully). On the main floor I'll have the star link router setup. This is where things get questionable. I use an ethernet cable (or don't I need one) to run from starlink Router to my Mesh #1 Run an ethernet cable from Starlink router to my basement Mesh #2. Wireless Mesh #3 upstairs. So My questions are 1 Do I even use an ethernet cable from starlink router to the mesh #1 that's right by it or should I just use the wifi \ wireless for the mesh setup? 2 In the basement (Where I work) do I run that ethernet cable from Mesh #2 to my PC or is that not how you do it? 3 Standard ethernet cables I assume? 4 Are there any TALL mounts anyone would recommend if I can't mount it on my roof? 5 Will I really need a mesh system with Gen 3? I've heard probably not. So Maybe I should start first without it and go from there. submitted by /u/DraftManager [link] [comments]

  • PS5/LAN/Security System
    by /u/bigwilly80 on April 20, 2024 at 11:28 pm

Hi, we have had Starlink for a out 8 weeks now and so far it's good (Ontario Canada). I have a question about using the Backbone for PS5 for some reason it won't stay connected when we go outside of our wifi. If I purchase our own router will that solve the issue? We also have issues connecting our security cameras up to the Starlink router any ideas how to fix that. Thanks submitted by /u/bigwilly80 [link] [comments]

  • Starlink Password Slow
    by /u/SeparateCobbler5623 on April 20, 2024 at 11:26 pm

Today I set up starlink for my parents who have been on dsl since about 2008. Everything went smooth except for this... When I went to create a password internet signal seemed to go way down and it was hard to connect. I removed the password and everything worked terrific. Any ideas why this would be? TIA submitted by /u/SeparateCobbler5623 [link] [comments]

  • Is the Starlink App Icon a reference to the Hohmann transfer?
    by /u/ckl1810 on April 20, 2024 at 9:37 pm

I did a Google Lens search, and I asked ChatGPT4. The later failed. But the former matched a search to the Hohmann tranfser orbit. As I understand from wikipedia, it is an orbital maneuver used to transfer a spacecraft between two orbits of different altitudes around a central body. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Hohmann_transfer_orbitMC.png submitted by /u/ckl1810 [link] [comments]

  • 3D Starlink Gen3 mount for 3/4-5 acme thread ( painters pole ) for RV etc.
    by /u/symonty on April 20, 2024 at 6:03 pm

I made a 3D printable mount for my gen3 dish, great for temp use say on RV using a painter pole. PS: Pretty sketchy and work in progress but should work for short term use as is. Contacted our bank for confirmation and they said that the order did indeed get pushed through with them mentioning the message above might have just been a security issue/measure. If anyone here has any experience with this and did you get your order? Because I'm afraid that we would just get nothing.. submitted by /u/DerpTripz [link] [comments]

    by /u/RevolutionaryDare401 on April 20, 2024 at 1:14 pm

I'm having issues where a V2 starlink I have installed at a remote location randomly stops working. • Using two systems (one at a time) with one account.
    by /u/SoftBearChancellor on April 20, 2024 at 12:44 pm

Want to leave one system at a remote site so we don’t have to keep transporting it. Is it possible to switch the receiver back and forth so we don’t have to pay for two accounts? submitted by /u/SoftBearChancellor [link] [comments]

  • Bypass Starlink router to my current router?
    by /u/tomhusband on April 20, 2024 at 11:39 am

When I get my Starlink installed I'll want to bypass their router so I can use my existing one. That way all my IP addresses will remain the same. Is my thinking correct on this or am I missing something? submitted by /u/tomhusband [link] [comments]

  • Bypass mode, gRPC not working (192.168.100.1 stopped replaying ping)
    by /u/Miiszcz on April 20, 2024 at 10:32 am

Devices with enabled bypass mode stopped comunicating with dishy on IP 192.168.100.1. The route is in place, and it was working some time ago, but now it looks like this IP is gone. We mostly used it to get the location and reboot the device remotely using gRPC. Is there any other way to communicate with Dishy using gRPC? It's working on all other devices which are not in bypass mode, we have them 20+. submitted by /u/Miiszcz [link] [comments]

  • Still lacking MFA!!
    by /u/SSturdCutter on April 20, 2024 at 6:08 am

Starlink, we love you. You’re a tech company - not having MFA is bad, like worse than Meta bad, like Myspace bad. Please get some MFA going, security is journey lets start now. Come on, Satelite Internet that is freaking awesome but no MFA is so dialup. -EDIT - MFA for account login - clarity. submitted by /u/SSturdCutter [link] [comments]
