The second annual TRX Championships gets underway today in Phoenix, AZ, with a series of tower-tech related challenges over a two-day event. The Tower Rodeo® Challenge 2021 will be live streamed so remote viewers can see seven teams consisting of tower technicians and first-responders competing in various scenarios that show their mastery of skills in rescue techniques, rigging, safety procedures and other disciplines. The event’s creator and host, Kathy Gill, CEO of Tower Safety said she’s added some levels of difficulty in using mechanical advantage systems.
Last year, the event trophy was won by two first responders from Pennsylvania trained in tower rescue techniques. Gill said, “It’s not going to be easy for them to repeat. We have some hardcore tower techs this time who feel it rightfully should be theirs.” The most important thing, according to Gill, is that everyone learns from each other and picks up new safety skills while competing and having fun doing it.
